Ayurveda is more than a mere treatment, it helps to maintain good health and mind. Ayurveda is holistic way to maintain well –balanced life. The
term Ayurveda means knowledge of life or science of life. Ayurveda the word derived from two Sanskrit words ayus (life) and veda (knowledge). Ayurveda has been in India for at least 5000 years. According to Ayurveda three doshas are present in human body. Vata, kapha and pitta are the three dosha or bio energies present in the body. The three doshas have major functions in the body. Vata controls body fuctions related with motion, heart beat , blood circulation and breathing etc. Pitta energy is responsible for the control of body’s metabolic system and kapha helps to maintain growth in the body. Dominancy of these doshas are different in particular persons. If any dosha increase beyond the desired limit, it will negatively affect life balance. Ayurveda prescribes specific life style and guidelines to bring the dosha back in to balance. Ayurvedic treatment mainly based on plants, fruits, flowers and vegetables. Changing life style and controlling diet is very important in the treatment of Ayurveda. Pranayama, Yoga, rasayana, abhyanga, herbal medicines and pancha karma are most common ayurvedic treatment.
Pranayama is a breathing control technique. Ujjayi, Dirgha pranayama, Nadi swothana are the different type pranayama which helps increase mindfulness, generate internal heat, soothes anxiety , and clam the mind. Rasayana has rejuvinateing properties. Kamya rasayanas, Naimittika rasayana are two major type of rasayanas. It helps to nourish the blood, lymph and semen. Rasayana helps to improve body immune system. Rasayana therapy also helps to normalize the digestion and increase natural glow of skin.
Abhyanga is Sanskrit word which means oil massage with different motions. Abhyanga is mentioned In ancient ayurvedic book such as Charak Samhita, Sushruta Samhita. It is one of major therapy to balance three dosha in the body. In Abhyanga specially made medicated oil are applied on the skin and gently rube all over the body. Sesame oil is the most commonly recommended oil for abhyanga. Reduce stress, detoxify the body, stimulate blood circulation, good sleep are the major benefits abhayanga.
Ayurveda panchakarma is one of the major treatment in Ayurveda therapy. Pachakarama therapy detoxify body and rejuvenate its condition. Pancha karama is Sanskrit word which means five type of therapeutic measures. This package of treatment includes Virechana (Purgation), Vamana (Emesis), Snehavasthi (Medicated Oil Enema), Kashayavasti (medicated decoction enema) & Nasya (Nasal Administration).
Virechana or purgation therapy which purify blood by cleaning toxins from the body. This treatment section mainly concentrated on removing the toxin accumulated in liver, gallbalder and gastro intestinal tract. Cow milk, castor oil, dandelion root , flaxseed husk and psyllium seed are mainly used in virechana therapy.
Vamana (emesis) is a procedure used to remove toxin associated with kapha. Toxin are discharged through mouth. Vamana benefits all kapha disorder like lung problems, bronchial asthma, rhinitis, and skin disorders like eczema. Kashaya vasti help to regulate all digestive problems. It is ayurvedic enema, which contain the combination of decoction, honey and oil.. In Nasya toxins are eliminated through nose. In this process drug are administered through nostrils. Brahmi, ginger, black paper, rose jasmine, ghee etc are used to prepare to this drug. Nasya benefits to cure neurological dysfunction, sinusitis, migraine etc. If you undergo a pachakarama treatment, there is no doubt your body will totally rejuvenate with in limited time.
