Rakhi Celebration with Unique Gifts

July 5th, 2008

Send Rakhi Gifts to India
Raksha Bandhan (Rakhi) is a traditional Indian festival in which sisters tie a sacred thread of protection around their brother’s wrists. By accepting a thread from his sister, the brother is bound to protect his sister from harm.

The sanctity of the thread that the sister ties to a brother’s hand makes the relationship glow with noble thoughts and blessings of love, devotion and duty of the brother towards his sister.

People in India celebrate this festival on the full moon day of the Hindu month of Shravana. The frail rakhi thread is considered stronger than iron chains in India as it binds brothers and sisters in a bond of everlasting trust and love. Sisters apply ‘tikka’ on their brothers’ foreheads and brothers reciprocate by giving them gifts and tokens of cash.

In turn, sisters buy gifts and sweets for their brothers. The meaning of this festival has expanded, so those who do not have brothers tie rakhis to others and initiate a new brother-sister relationship that usually continues for a lifetime.

This festival also has an important social significance, because it underlines the notion that every one in society should live in harmonious coexistence with each other as brothers and sisters in society. The best way forward towards attaining this social goal is to initiate a lifetime bond that makes men and women, young and old alike with pious feelings towards each other.

The aim of Rakhi is to achieve a harmonious coexistence for everyone and removal of social strains. Simultaneously, it strives to cultivate noble thoughts in society and imbibe feelings of brotherly as well as sisterly love for members of society.

The festival is rooted deeply in the psyche of every Indian since the past. Legend says that Rajput and Maratha queens have send rakhis even to Mughal kings who despite their personal differences, rose to protect them from harm.

Another story has it that Lord Indra - the ruler of the heavenly realm, was almost on the verge of losing a long drawn battle against the demons. Indira’s wife came forward to help her husband and tied a talisman on his wrist. This helped Lord Indira win the war against the demons.

Yet another legend has it that Lord Yama, the God of death had a sister Yamuna. On every “Shravan Purnima”, she would tie a rakhi on her brother’s wrist. Since then it became customary for sisters to tie a rakhi on their brother’s wrist.

There are a lot of rakhis available in the market encompassing both traditional and modern themes. These include thread rakhis, moti (pearl) rakhis, silver rakhis, silver coin rakhis and more. There are rakhis even for children such as chocolate rakhis, Superman, Batman, Pokemon, Krish, Mikey mouse rakhis, and so on.

On this day, brothers and sisters send cards and gifts to each other. Traditional gifts mark the occasion. These gifts include rakhi baskets with ethnic stuff, fashion jewellery, gift hampers, ethnic dresses like sarees, kurtis, Punjabi suits, dresses and dress material, traditional puja thalis, Indian Sweets like Kaju Katli, barfi, pendas, boondi laddoos and such, dry fruits such as cashew nuts, raisins, almonds, pistachios, and such.

Other gifts include apparels, watches, perfumes, etc other due to the influence of the present day modern culture. On this occasion, brothers also give a token of money as appreciation for their sisters. Sisters also purchase return gifts for their brothers, which includes men’s items such as perfumes, kerchiefs, sunglasses, watches, mobiles, shirts, trousers, wallets, belts, apparels, electronic items, and such.

Prohibirse Alimentos También Engorda

March 26th, 2008

What is going on when you get Photo Rejuvenation therapy?

March 26th, 2008

You may have heard of photo rejuvenation, it has been discussed on TV and radio talk shows, in magazines, newspapers and of course on the Internet. Maybe you know it involves the use of some kind of appliance that shines light on the skin. You may even know the names of some of the photo rejuvenation devices that are on the market. So, if you are among those that have heard of photo rejuvenation or photo facial therapy have you asked yourself “What does that light do anyway?” or “How can light help my skin?” For that matter what does photorejuvenation mean? Those are good questions.

Let’s start with the easy question. What does photo rejuvenation mean? Well photo means light and rejuvenate means to make young again. So, photo rejuvenation…using light to make young again.

Now the tougher question, how can light help my skin and how can light be a skin care treatment? I like using analogies to explain things so we’ll use one here. When you were in school do you remember learning about how sunlight causes photosynthesis in plants? If you missed that day what your teacher told your class was that certain light rays from the sun caused the plant to make new cells and structures causing it to grow. The sunlight was stimulating the cells. You have probably figured out that photosynthesis means using light to make something. OK, that’s for plants, but your asking how does that apply to me? Photorejuvenation device companies have selected only the kinds of light that can have a similar invigorating effect on our cells. In fact the light from photo rejuvenation devices targets little tiny organs in the cells called mitochondria (they are our cells power generators) and gets them charged up causing the cells to get busy making more of what they normally make. So if it’s a cell that makes collagen or elastin you get more collagen and elastin with the result being younger more vibrant looking skin. Therefore, light as a natural skin care treatment!

A native of Vancouver, Canada, Dr. Stanley Stanbridge is a graduate of the Los Angeles College of Chiropractic. He has always been actively seeking out new and innovative technologies related to the field of alternative healthcare. Dr. Stanbridge began investigating the benefits of light therapy in 2003 and went on to co-develop the revolutionary LightStim photo rejuvenation device. Topical Supplements Avoid Problems Associated with Oral Pain Medications

March 26th, 2008

Joint and muscle stiffness and pain are common to everyone at one time or another and can be caused by exercise, aging or specific conditions such as arthritis, osteoporosis, tendonitis or bursitis, just to name a few. We all try a multitude of different products, either over the counter medication or prescription drugs to relieve this stiffness and pain and most are found to be ineffective or can cause moderate to severe side effects such as ulcers, gastrointestinal problems, difficulty breathing, circulation problems, chest pain and/or shortness of breath.

Topical supplementation is the best way for addressing soft tissue and joint pain because it is applied directly to the target area that is causing the pain or discomfort. Over 80per cent of oral medicines and supplements are filtered out by the digestive system, thus minimizing their effect in the easing of pain, and causing the patient to increase the dosage, which could cause a multitude of side effects ranging from mild to severe.

Not all topical supplements are the same. The most popular analgesic gels are simply strong menthol and/or camphor based counter irritants that may mask the pain for a very short time and overwhelm the senses, but most times are not effective.

Two new products on the market, Ibunex and Gluconex are clinically formulated in a liposome dermal delivery matrix, that is, in a handy spray pump. Both of these medications are over the counter and target key ingredients immediately into sore muscles and joints. Also, both of these products can be used simultaneously. Because they are applied directly to the target site, the pain, stiffness and soreness may be relieved almost instantly.

Ibunex is a unique, topically applied formula. One pump (.2 grams) contains Ibuprofen (10 mg) plus Glucosamine (4 mg), Chondroitin (4 mg), MSM (5 mg) and Bromelain (5 mg). Recent clinical research has found that 5per cent of topical Ibuprofen resulted in comparable effectiveness relative to 400 mg oral Ibuprofen. Also, oral Glucosamine with Ibuprofen synergistically boosted Ibuprofens effectiveness.

Glucosamine and Chondroitin are natural substances found in and around the cells of cartilage. Researchers believe that Glucosamine inhibits inflammation and stimulates cartilage cell growth, while Chondroitin provides cartilage with strength and resilience. Research testing of Glucosamine and Chondroitin and found that both together, rather than taken separately, carry low doses of key ingredients deep into the targeted tissue, delivering the benefits you expect.

Gluconex is a unique topically applied maintenance care formula. One pump (.2 grams) contains Glucosamine (10 mg), plus Chondroitin (5 mg), MSM (5 mg) and Bromelain (5 mg) and can be applied to the muscle or joint that is causing pain, such as the neck, shoulder, knees, feet, hips, back, etc.

The difference between Gluconex and Ibunex is that Gluconex does not contain Ibuprofen. Both of these products can be used simultaneously. The topical Ibunex can be used 3 to 4 times a day for 14 days and the topical Gluconex can be used 2 times daily for ongoing care.

Disclaimer: Ibunex and Gluconex are not recommended for children under the age of 12 years or for women during pregnancy or lactation or to be taken internally. Consult your health care professional if you are taking other pain relievers or supplements.

Know The Cause For Hair Loss Before Going For Its Cure

February 17th, 2008

There are numerous factors that may be the reason for your hair loss. At times, even minor changes in our body conditions and diet supplements result in hair loss leading to baldness. What is pertinent at the time of hair loss is to identify the actual reason before opting for hair loss remedy than doing it the other way round. Let’s look into some of the common ailments that may result in hair loss.

High Fever, Severe Infection and Flu Illnesses form to be one of the primary reasons for hair loss. At times, due to fever and resulting infection, the hairs enter into a resting phase. Four weeks to three months after a high fever, severe illness or infection, a person is shocked to see a lot of hair falling out. Shedding slowly controls itself and hair start growing in a normal fashion.

Thyroid Disease - Both an over-active thyroid and an under-active thyroid can cause hair loss. At times, it is so severe that it may result in baldness. It can easily be diagnosed by the help of a few laboratory tests Hair loss associated with thyroid disease can be reversed with hair loss treatment and hair care.
Today, people go on crash diets that are low in protein and suffer, unknowingly, from protein malnutrition. The body saves protein by shifting growing hairs into the resting phase. Massive hair shedding occurs after a period two to three months. Hair becomes so weak that they can be pulled out by the roots fairly easily. Hair loss cure for loss of hair due to protein deficiency can be reversed and prevented by eating proper amount of protein and maintaining adequate protein intake while dieting.

Cancer Treatments - Some cancer treatments will cause hair cells to stop dividing. Hairs become thin and break off as they exit the scalp. This occurs one to three weeks after the treatment. Patients can lose up to 90 percent of their scalp hair at time causing baldness. Baldness cure for such type of hair loss has to be carried out under close observation of a qualified hair expert. The hair will re grow after treatment ends.

Low Serum Iron - Iron deficiency occasionally produces hair loss. Some people don’t have enough iron in their diets or may not fully absorb iron. Women who have heavy menstrual periods may develop iron deficiency. Low iron can be detected by laboratory tests and can be corrected by taking iron pills.

Major Surgery/Chronic Illness - Anyone who has had a major operation may notice increased hair shedding within one to three months afterwards probably because they are not getting adequate protein required for the growth of the hairs. The condition reverses itself within a few months but people who have a severe chronic illness may shed hair indefinitely at times leading to baldness.
Know the cause for your hair loss before opting for any type of treatment. Rather than taking it casually, it is advisable to consult a qualified hair expert when you experience hair loss. As a result of some laboratory test and a close observation to your daily routine including your diet and medication, the cause for hair loss can be identified with considerable ease thus helping in correct hair loss solution.

Want to control cholesterol and to get rid of arthritis. Try Lutein

February 17th, 2008

INTRODUCTION:

Lutein is one of the natural pigments that is very useful for the organs which are directly exposed to the external environment like eyes & skin. It provides nutritional support to our eyes & skin because of its potent antioxidant activity that is useful in protecting them from harmful chemicals. The body cannot manufacture it, therefore it must be obtained from the external sources; the main sources are dark green leafy vegetables such as spinach. Fruits & egg yolks also contain lutein.

WHY LUTEIN IS NECESSARY?

Eating foods containing lutein or consuming dietary supplements is very useful in maintaining the healthy body activities because its antioxidant action appears to reduce harmful chemicals in various parts of the body so preventing from long term problems. Lutein also protects the body from harmful rays (ultra violets) that are believed to induce free radical damage in human organs exposed to light like eyes & skin. Lutein is required for the normal functioning of eye, blood serum, skin, brain and breast. Lutein is one of the carotenoids is under investigation as a possible anti cancer nutrient. Good source of Lutein includes dark leafy greens and broccoli. Researches believe that Lutein acts as antioxidant, protecting the cells in the eye from free radicals.

HEALTH BENIFICIAL EFFECTS OF LUTEIN:

EYES HEALTH:

Cataracts (clouding of lens in the eyes) & macular degeneration (loss of functional activity of macula) are the two aged related disorders that are protected by using lutein. Lutein is concentrated on a small region of retina that is concern with the central vision & high visual acuity called macula. Due to the deficiency of lutein, the functional activity of macula is declined which result in the loss of central vision & weak eyesight causing problems in reading, sewing and driving.

SKIN HEALTH:

Skin is the largest organ of the human body. Along with the eyes it is directly exposed to the sunlight & environmental pollutants. Similar to the eyes, lutein also deposited throughout the skin. Research suggested that 10mg of lutein obtained from food or dietary supplements may helpful in maintaining the healthy skin by increasing skin lipid contents, hydration (penetration of water in deeper layers) & elasticity. Lutein also has the ability to filter the ultra violet rays of sun that are harmful for the skin.

HEART HEALTH:

Lutein may also be helpful in preventing deposition of fatty materials on the inner wall of the arteries that are present in neck thus protect against obstruction, which is the most common cause of heart attacks. Deposition of these materials also occurs in the artery that nourishes the heart muscles called as coronary artery & it is a major contributor of coronary heart disease.

This deposition is due to the harmful chemicals (free radicals) that convert the bad cholesterol (Low- Density Lipoprotein (Cholesterol) or LDL) in a form which causes the occlusion of arteries. Research in the University of Southern California indicated that subjects with the highest levels of lutein in blood had no increase in deposited material in the arteries than those that with lowest levels & had blocked arteries. The antioxidant ability of lutein present in the blood enables the arteries to protect against this condition. Blood level of lutein rather than tissue levels are important for the complete heart health, so regular dietary intake of lutein may protects from heart problems .

WOMEN HEALTH:

Dietary supplementation with lutein is very essential for the women health because researches indicated that deficiency of lutein may increases the risk of breast cancer.

Hair Vitamins – An Ideal Solution To Healthy Hair

December 27th, 2007

Worried because of your hair loss or hair turning grey and you don’t like that cumbersome process of hair coloring and weaving? Say good bye to your worries. There is a silver lining to it. Today, a number of hair vitamins are available in the market in the form of capsules and tablets that not only vitalize the hair and keep them healthy but also cure many hair related problems such as hair loss and baldness.

Hair related problems creep in at a sooner or later stage and cause damage to our hairs. Some problems such as dandruff

may start as early as childhood. Recent breakthroughs have brought out a number of dietary supplements, capsules and tablets that prove to be revitalizing for our hair and even prevent problems such as baldness and hair loss. Hair experts advocate that hair grow from inside through the hair cells and follicles. So it is far more beneficial to opt for treatment that can revitalize the hair cells from within.

Dietary supplements are instrumental in promoting growth of healthy hair and pigment restoration in grey hairs. They contain copper salt, para-aminobenzoic acid or salts, pantothenic acid or salts, and vitamin B6 in an appropriate proportion. These chemicals can retard, prevent, suppress, and even reverse the graying of hair. It can lead to restoration of healthy hair without the use of dyes, colorants, or the like.

Supplements designed specifically for hair contain necessary nutrients for optimum hair growth and proved to be an effective hair loss remedy. The formulation of vitamins and minerals is carried out with an aim to stimulate and nourish the hair follicles in order to prevent so called “Nutrient Deficient Follicles” or NDF which results in baldness and hair loss. They prove to be the ideal solution for all hair problems right from thinning of hair to graying hair. These supplements are available at the medical stores and can be obtained with relative ease.

Treatments for hair loss in women are aimed at providing them with the necessary vitamins that generate nutrition to provide the building blocks of Keratin protein - the main component of hair. Different tablets are used in the day and night because hair grows differently during the day than at nighttime. Depending upon the advised dose, capsules are taken in the morning and evening. However, it is not recommended for recommended for children, pregnant/lactating women.
In men, the healthy hair capsules are supplemented with an oil rich vitamin for hair loss that binds to the cell structure of the follicle combined with optimal and specific vitamins & minerals. A high amount of amino acids (proteins) derived from marine origin extracts along with Vitamin C and Silica compounds also forms part of the composition of some renowned hair loss capsules.

Oral vitamins have the main advantage of their composition which is specifically aimed at growth of healthy hair and to cure hair related problems. They influence the hair follicles resulting in eradication of the problem. At times, they retard or suppress the problem and rejuvenate healthy hair at a later stage. Rather than going for cumbersome processes like hair coloring and weaving, it is advisable to opt for such dosages which are far easier.

Laser hair removal is fast gaining popularity. The author along with he above hair loss treatment, gives hair removal treatments also.
